Our new Chair & her March 09 Letter
As new Chair I would like to start by acknowledging the fantastic efforts of the last committee, in particular the retirees - Lorna Alexander and Margaret Paterson. Thankyou for voting me into the hot chair! I look forward to the next 2 years. Well, what a start with Christine Thom. We learned how a simple thankyou can overcome “Buyers’ Remorse”. She got us to think outside our comfort zones. Two terrific videoclips from Youtube are well worth watching again (I’ve already found an excuse to show them to senior classes at Marr).

* 212 - the extra degree makes all the difference.
I also attended the Everywoman Conference in Glasgow on Tuesday 3 March and can thoroughly recommend attending in future years. Interestingly, much was made by several speakers about the need for “Business Blogs” - in particular because this improves your Google Ranking. Something to think about - at least one member of the committee has one, so just ask. It might also be worthwhile looking into BT Tradespace (free). Our next meeting on Effective Negotiation Skills by Colin MacDougall will also be attended by some S6 students from The Marr College, Troon. I thank you in advance for the warm welcome I know you will give the students. New members in particular should note that a “Members’ Table” is to be found at every event - on which you can deposit business cards and/or literature about your business. The March meeting will also include 2 x 5 minute presentations by current members. My favourite quote of the week:
